What is myofascial release?
Using a whole-body approach, myofascial release is geared to restoring balance, symmetry, and fluidity to the body through gentle, hands-on touch. Assessing the whole body for fascial restrictions visually and through touch aids in discovering the root cause of your problems. Facilitating body awareness while applying gentle pressure into fascial restrictions enables the body to authentically release and let go of tension, pain and old emotions.
Where does the method come from?
John F. Barnes’ methods have been in vogue since the 1970s in the United States. Since then, he has trained over 50,000 physicians and therapists. At age 70, John continues to treat patients regularly in his treatment centers and conduct seminars throughout the USA and Canada.
The therapists at The Dreaming Body have trained extensively with John F. Barnes since 2005. The first Australian multi-therapist clinic using John’s approach exclusively, The Dreaming Body has enjoyed helping people become pain-free and experience long-lasting results from pain and dysfunction since 2009.
Who is John F. Barnes?
Due to his own pain from a weight lifting injury, an American physiotherapist, John F. Barnes, set out to find long term relief and return to his active lifestyle. Many therapies and modalities left him disappointed and offered only temporary results. With the realisation that no one could help him, he relied on his intuition and experience as a therapist to develop his own form of 'Myofascial Release.' Since then, he has trained therapists and clinicians within a myriad of disciplines, and treats people from all over the world at his treatment centres in Pennsylvania and Arizona. His approach to myofascial release is very gentle and allows for natural release of restrictions and tension in the connective tissue rather than forceful manipulation. This powerful combination of natural healing potential and gentle facilitation enables anyone to achieve long term relief. For more information regarding John F.
